How to Add Friends to Snapchat
We mentioned earlier that Snapchat offers four options for adding new friends. Let’s look at how you can add your friends to Snapchat using any of these methods.
- Contact Book
The first step is to add your friends through the contact book on your phone.
You can access your profile by tapping the top-left icon on your screen. Next, tap ‘Add friends’ and then click ‘All contacts.’ Select ‘Continue’ when asked to sync your contacts.
After you enter your phone number, Snapchat will sort through your contacts to find your friends.
You can add your friends at any time after Snapchat finds them.
- Snapcode
Snapcodes are unique to each user and cannot be copied by anyone else. This is one of the unique features of Snapchat.
You can add your friend as a friend by scanning their Snapcode with your camera and adding their visual code. This can be done in two ways.
You can share a picture of your friend’s Snapcode with them first. They should then open Snapchat, tap and hold the shared Snapcode, and then select ‘Save to Camera Roll’ from the pop-up menu.
They should then open their profile icon and click ‘Add Friends.’ Select the Snapcode icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Your camera roll will open, where you can select the Snapcode of your friend.
Snap will scan your Snapcode, find your friend, and ask you to confirm the friend request as soon as you upload the picture.
For those of you who are in person with your friends, you can simply open the app and hold their Snapcode in front of the camera. Simply tap the screen to reveal the Snapcode. Snapchat will ask you if you wish to add your friend when the code is scanned. You can do that by clicking ‘Add Friend.’
- Username
Adding friends by username is as simple as going to your profile and tapping ‘Add Friends.’
Instead of searching your ‘ Contacts,’ you can now search for someone in your ‘Contacts’ by entering their username in the search bar at the top of the screen.
Once you’ve added the person, simply tap ‘Add’ to add them to your friend’s list.
- Quick Add
Lastly, we have the Quick Add option. Snapchat’s algorithm may automatically suggest some people to you based on the number of common friends or other metrics.
By tapping ‘Add,’ you will receive a friend request if you agree with Snapchat’s algorithm.
