There are a few ways to hide Instagram messages so nosy friends or family members can’t see them. One way is to use Vanish Mode.

Another way to hide Instagram message requests is to disable the feature entirely from your Settings. You can also hide your conversations on Instagram by switching to a business account. To do this, go to your Instagram profile and tap on the three menu lines at the top right corner. From there, select the Switch account type options. You will then be prompted to choose between your personal account or your business account. Another method for hiding your Instagram conversations is to activate vanish mode. This will hide all messages, GIFs, and photos sent to or from the person you’re talking to. The only drawback is that any users involved in the conversation will be able to take screenshots or report the message. However, if you’re looking for a permanent solution to hiding your Instagram chats, this is the best way.
4. Vanish Messages
Instagram’s vanishing messages feature is great for protecting your privacy from nosy friends or trolls. However, it does have its limitations. In particular, you can only use vanishing mode for one-on-one conversations and it’s only available between people who follow each other. It’s also not available for private group chats. Additionally, vanishing messages are not saved in your message history, so they’re less likely to be exposed by third parties due to data breaches or snooping.
To activate vanish mode, tap the person icon in your direct messages and then select “Vanish Messages”. Then, swipe up to open a temporary chat with the other user. Unlike normal messages, Vanish Messages will self-destruct once the conversation is closed. You can still send other media such as GIFs, videos, or photos within a Vanish Messages chat. However, you can’t copy or save them. The other user can still take a screenshot of your Vanish Messages, and Instagram will notify you if they do so.
You can only view your Vanish Messages by tapping the person icon in your direct messages and then selecting “Vanish Messages”. You’ll be able to see both the text and any media that you’ve sent to this person. Moreover, you can only view your Vanish Messages for an hour after they’ve been deleted from the app. Instagram retains Vanish Messages and media for an additional hour in case the recipient files a report about abuse or harassment, and needs to review the evidence before taking action.
If you have accidentally sent a message to someone and then realized that it wasn’t appropriate, the unsend feature on Instagram has been a lifesaver for many users. However, if you haven’t tagged the person or added them to your list of contacts, you won’t be able to unsend their message.
If a message you sent disappears from your DMs, it could mean that the other person has blocked you. This is a way to cut all ties with a person, and they won’t be able to find or read your message. Fortunately, there are ways to get around this, including using the unsend feature on other apps.
